NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Civil Engineer (Field Engineer) to join our growing Construction Services team in Charlotte, NC . This role is ideal for recent graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the field. The successful candidate will support soil nail inspection projects, materials testing, and special inspections for a diverse range of projects including:

  • Commercial developments
  • Industrial facilities
  • Transportation infrastructure
  • Educational institutions (K-12, colleges, universities)
  • Aviation projects
  • Government and municipal buildings

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field inspections and testing of construction materials (soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, steel, etc.) to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct soil nail installation inspections, including verification of drilling, grouting, and nail placement.
  • Assist with special inspections such as structural steel, fireproofing, and foundation systems.
  • Prepare accurate and timely field reports, documenting observations, test results, and any deviations from plans or specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and clients to relay findings and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and calibrate field equipment and ensure proper safety protocols are followed.
  • Travel to various job sites as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Strong interest in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, and fieldwork.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and samples (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred:

  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or working toward it.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in construction or geotechnical engineering.
  • Familiarity with ASTM, ACI, and other relevant standards.
