Position Summary:

As the Events Supervisor of Meriam Park events, you will attend and oversee the logistical and operational aspects of all of The Barns events.

As the Publics main point of contact for out day to day events, you will be tasked with maintaining the Barns individual culture and brand identity. As a leader and problem solver, you will guide and support our team, enabling them to do their jobs well while building a team-oriented mentality and an enjoyable place to work. Excellent communication and organizational skills are vital for effectively liaising with staff, customers, and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for coordinating and supervising staff members and lead by example to ensure the highestquality services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, supervise and oversee staff members, some recruitment of extra staff needed for large scale events. Tracking staff hours and making sure they reconcile with payroll.
  • Train new staff members. Help create the right team environment, making sure team is representative of MP values and goals.Practice effective and positive communication amongst the staff and with the Marketing Manager.
  • Pitch in as needed, working in concessions or elsewhere. Be a team player.
  • Collaborating with Marketing manager to review employees and recommend new hires and terminations when necessary.
  • Oversee operations and staff during each event. This includes (but is not limited to) setting up, problem solving during the event, cleaning up and reconciling the register at the end. Practice excellent customer service while ensuring the safety of the staff and public.
  • Inventory management, including ordering, budget, inspections and reconciliations.
  • Check supplies and equipment quantity and quality, receive orders when necessary. Shop externally as needed.
  • Organize and coordinate people and operationsto ensure maximum efficiency including leveraging volume with suppliers and vendors.
  • Establish standards for customer service.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legal, health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Constantly look for ways to improve Barns whether this be changes to the menu, event suggestions, or changing of staffing.

Conduct capabilities:

  • Attention to detail: precision in the details being recorded and presented to upper management. Take the time, to read all correspondence carefully and respond thoughtfully and completely.
  • Maintains a list of action items and/or requests and follow through with promises in a complete manner. Communicate if you need more time for appropriate completion.
  • Time Management: Efficiently prioritizes tasks and manages time to stay on schedule, even in fast-paced environments. Must be able to meet deadline requirements.
  • Adaptability and Resiliency: Capacity to handle unexpected changes, work under pressure in time-sensitive situations, all while maintaining a positive code of conduct.

Physical Requirements/ Work environment

  • This position requires the ability to work outside and indoors.
  • Event venue is main office space
  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • You may be required to work outside the normal 8-5 for event purposes.
  • You must be able to be on foot for long periods of time
  • You should be able lift/carry 25-50lbs.
