New Homes CAD Designer - Solar PV
Location: El Dorado Hills, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, full-time, on-site
Pay: 60k to 80k, DOE
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire
We're seeking an experienced CAD Designer to join a growing solar team in El Dorado Hills. This role focuses on producing accurate solar plan sets for new home construction, ensuring all drawings meet code, builder, and permitting requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with residential solar design, new construction layouts, and AutoCAD.
Responsibilities:
* Create detailed roof and site layouts, electrical one-line diagrams, conduit routing, and mounting details
* Prepare complete plan sets for permits, utility interconnection, and construction
* Revise and finalize drawings based on engineer redlines and AHJ comments
* Coordinate with engineering, project management, and permitting teams to ensure compliance
* Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across all plan sets
Qualifications:
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (latest versions preferred)
* Experience in solar PV system design and new home construction drafting
* Understanding of building codes, NEC requirements, and residential design standards
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience:
* Background in residential solar design for homebuilders or production homes
* Knowledge of permitting processes and AHJ requirements
* Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, Revit, or PV design software (Aurora, Helioscope, etc.)
