Job Summary A Family Practice Physician is needed to review and evaluate medical charts for pain management cases. This role focuses on ensuring that all medical documentation is compliant with state regulations, insurance requirements, and evidence-based treatment practices in the management of chronic pain. The ideal candidate will bring their medical expertise to assess treatment plans, prescriptions, and overall patient management to ensure appropriate care and minimize risk. IPS is a subsidiary of SSJC. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough reviews of patient charts, focusing on pain management protocols and treatment history. Evaluate the appropriateness of opioid and other pain management prescriptions according to best practices and regulatory guidelines. Ensure medical documentation meets state and federal legal requirements, as well as insurance mandates. Identify inconsistencies, red flags, or areas of concern in the treatment of chronic pain patients. Provide recommendations for modifications to treatment plans when necessary, promoting safe and effective pain management. Collaborate with other healthcare providers and specialists to review patient outcomes and optimize care. Ensure compliance with North Carolina's medical board requirements for pain management. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications MD or DO with board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Active, unrestricted medical license in North Carolina. Experience in pain management, addiction medicine, or related fields is preferred. Knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding opioid prescribing and pain management (e.g., CDC guidelines). Attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies or potential compliance issues. Strong communication skills for collaborating with other medical professionals. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Preferred Qualifications Experience with reviewing medical charts or serving in a medical director capacity. Additional certification in pain management or addiction medicine is a plus. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
