Overview Join HDR as a Senior Electrical Power Engineer in our employee-owned environment committed to inclusion and impact. We seek a qualified engineer to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor. HDR’s Power Generation team is growing to meet capacity demand signals across the market. Opportunities are available in multiple locations (listed below). Responsibilities Lead utility-scale power generation design projects including power generation and distribution, protection and control design, power system studies, and balance of plant design (such as raceway, lighting, and grounding). Serve as Owner’s Engineer or Advisor; mentor engineers; manage client relationships; lead marketing activities including proposal writing, fee development, and WBS development in response to RFPs. Verify design and engineer of record work; coordinate with Project Manager and Project Controller during project reviews; manage multi-discipline teams or act as lead on a small team. Travel: less than 10% for client meetings and site visits. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation Previous experience with an engineering power Consulting or EPC firm Excellent communication, written and organizational skills Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, lighting and grounding design, instrumentation and control, and life-safety systems Experience with project reviews with Project Manager and Project Controller; directing activities of other engineers and mentoring staff Position will require travel Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical power Professional Engineers license (PE or P.Eng) Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples: PLS-CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit) Commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture What We Believe HDR is our company.
