As a member of the Product SRE team, you will be responsible for the deliverables of the embedded product SRE for your assigned product. The team comprises dedicated, world-class SRE engineers embedded into product teams to drive reliability, observability, and high-performing services. You will provide technical expertise to ensure the teams can enhance reliability across the product landscape. This position requires a highly technical engineer with experience in SRE and a passion for enabling high-performing products. As a seasoned engineer, you will contribute to the Product SRE strategic objectives and help transform Xero’s SRE culture. As an effective communicator, you will manage change and clearly convey the value of robust systems across the business. How You'll Make an Impact: Provide technical contributions to ensure the completion of daily deliverables of a dedicated product SRE team, taking ownership of reliability. Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of reliability, observability, operability, and performance of your assigned product through high-quality solutions. Build long-term relationships with product engineering teams to ensure continuous improvement in system reliability. Promote an “automation first” approach and ensure quality delivery at all times. Experience with error budget management and SLA/SLO breaches is desirable. Implement observability best practices across products for rapid detection of impactful events. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement to enhance product reliability and reduce issue impact. Provide ongoing training across the business to ensure reliability requirements are understood and integrated into product designs. Support a team of engineers to raise the quality of deliverables and outcomes. Monitor and report on adherence to quality standards within the SRE team. What You'll Bring: Proven experience delivering reliability solutions in a highly technical environment. Strong engineering background with hands-on SRE expertise. Experience mentoring SRE teams in a fast-growing company. Ability to inspire and empower cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence. Customer-focused mindset, aiming for high stability and quality customer experience. 24/7 incident response and remediation focus. Technical understanding of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and incident management, especially for high-availability SaaS systems. Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C#, JavaScript, Java, Python) or infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Experience with observability tools monitoring distributed systems. Familiarity with agile methodologies, CI/CD practices. $150,000 - $185,000 a year Why Xero?
