Purpose

The Catering Server for Forty Acres Catering within Longhorn Hospitality under University Housing and Dining (UHD) is responsible for setting up, serving, and breaking down catering events across campus, ensuring high standards of hospitality and service. This position will work collaboratively with a team to provide seamless service, maintain a clean and organized environment, and uphold the university's commitment to excellence in dining. This role requires a passion for customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for serving food & beverage to attendees and set up/replenishment of food stations as needed for catering functions. Understand the event menu and assist guests regarding menu items in an informative and helpful way. Assist the banquet captain as needed throughout the event. Report any issues to the Banquet Captain or Catering Manager.
  • Read and understand banquet event orders (BEOS) in order to assist with set-up and break down responsibilities for full-service catering events. Set up and break down responsibilities include, but are not limited to, service equipment, wares, tables, table linens, dcor, merchandising, and table settings.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to guests during catering event functions to ensure a five-star guest experience. Greet and interact with event attendees in a professional and upbeat manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment based on safety and sanitation policies.
  • May drive a University of Texas (UT) company vehicle and transport food and equipment throughout campus as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a waiter in a dining establishment.
  • Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training required by University Housing and Dining.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three or more years of server experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in customer service.
  • Experience in event services.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook.
  • Experience working in a university setting.
Salary Range

$39,520+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
  • May work in extreme temperatures.
  • May work around chemicals.
  • Use of manual dexterity.
  • Climbing of ladders.
  • Pushing, pulling, and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Lifting and moving up to 62 pounds.
  • The successful candidate must successfully complete testing for strength and agility prior to employment.
Work Shift
  • Work hours and days may vary to include nights and weekends depending on business needs.
